I discovered that Chilean bus travel includes checkpoints where passengers must exit the bus, collect their belongings, pass through security scans conducted by the PDI, and then re-board to resume their journey. This procedure, reminiscent of checkpoints in some Peruvian cities, was a new experience for me, but it was smooth, taking only about 15 minutes in total
